A friend of mine called today looking for an old tommy hat to borrow, first thoughts, maybe he needs it for this Sunday's troops home coming parade in Belfast, but alass it was just for a play about the 36th Ulster divison in the trenches.WW1 Royal Irish Uniforms

The tommy hat was the old tin hat worn in trenches by our first world war soliders. Tommy I guess being the nick name for an English soldier.What about Tommy Atkins

Swan in Belfast Lough and nurses uniforms ! This is a real silly blog, but hey who cares, its a little bit of fun !!

Its not too often that I have seen a swan sitting on the shores of Belfast Lough, but here is the proof.

I had always thought that if you wanted to see a swan in this neck of the woods you would have stood a better chance finding one in ward park.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with nursing uniforms. Just thought I would post it out of interest.

By the way the weather has also turned cold and we have some snow on them there hills !

Still nothing to do with uniforms, but so what !

   

P.S. I've not been drinking either, nor am I on any medication :-)

Happy weekend everyone. Even though I know that the nursing business continues  24/7, so the weekend off is not for all nursing staff.

I came across this article today, and even though it has nothing to do with nurses uniforms, nor Belfast, but just an interesting article considering the amount of water in bottles we buy.

Maybe the water from the tap is the best of all, especially those plumped into silent valley water, here in Northern Ireland. This is one of the most beautiful places in Northern Ireland.

It was wonderful watching the QE2 sail into Belfast this afternoon and then further entertainment by the red arrows. Belfast is certainly a different city from the one in which I worked, as a work study person in the late 1980's and early 1990's. It's a big WOW, everytime I visit the city. They say it is the most popular city in Europe. What a change !

Just a pity about the weather.
