Newtownards  is home to Blue Autumn, uniform manufacturers and suppliers. Situated just outside Belfast and on the shores of Strangford Lough. We have been based in Newtownards for 11 years. Newtownards having a long history in the textile industry.

The old cross, this was erected in 1636 and stood in the market place of the Scots market town founded by Hugh Montgomery in 1603. It was the meeting point of the main roads to and from Newtownards. It is built from sandstone and is octagonal in plan. The inside is hollow and may have been used as an office on market days or as shelter from the night watchmen. Its importance declined when the new market house was built in Conway square in 1765.

Having done business in Romania for last 5 years, its easy to see the changes that have taken place in Romania. When we first arrived, Romania had not entered the EU, 1 GBP bought 66,000 lei, and a price of a hotel room in Iasi was around £20 ( breakfast included ). Today for 1 GBP you will be lucky to get 4.5 Ron( Romania lopped of a few zeros last year to help them look more european ), and the cheapest room in Iasi for a bed & breakfast will cost around £35, the hotel rooms are way above that, around £60.

Happy weekend everyone. Even though I know that the nursing business continues  24/7, so the weekend off is not for all nursing staff.

I came across this article today, and even though it has nothing to do with nurses uniforms, nor Belfast, but just an interesting article considering the amount of water in bottles we buy.

Maybe the water from the tap is the best of all, especially those plumped into silent valley water, here in Northern Ireland. This is one of the most beautiful places in Northern Ireland.

QE2 Belfast 4th October 2008

It was wonderful watching the QE2 sail into Belfast this afternoon and then further entertainment by the red arrows. Belfast is certainly a different city from the one in which I worked, as a work study person in the late 1980's and early 1990's. It's a big WOW, everytime I visit the city. They say it is the most popular city in Europe. What a change !

Just a pity about the weather.
